I think its fairly close to 2000ft from the pond to the Knife Edge...someone please correct me...it may only be a 1000ft. Substantial none the less.

Yeah, it's essentially 2000' from chimney pond to summit, and that route goes most of the way. The approach may be account for 500-800' of that.
